CASE STUDIES

The Old Schoolhouse

Daniel from Stuart Frazer in Read recommended his client spoke with James Kok Lighting to obtain some individual, stylish lighting for their open plan kitchen and living area. The brief was for six feature pendants over the dining table and breakfast bar area and a couple of statement pieces for the mezzanine and stairwell areas.

Project Overview

After visiting the school house with its spectacular views, the client made a couple of visits to the showroom whereby we were able to discuss the styles which we thought worked best. After narrowing the choice down to two alternatives we eventually decided upon some German iridescent pendants for the kitchen area. These hand blown glasses are infused with colour allowing a choice of Blue Magento or Orange, Yellow. The ones selected for this project were the Blue Magento finish with the brushed silver metal work.

For the mezzanine and the stairwell area we came up with a glamorous selection of feature multi-drop pendants of spherical design, complemented by crushed crystal diffusers finished in chrome metalwork. The longer fourteen light had a three metre drop which meant that it was just visible from the lower kitchen level and created an intriguing link to the first floor mezzanine where the main body of the light was suspended. The smaller, complimentary five light in the stairwell area meant that this theme was linked in the two areas.
